I'm Going to "Glassy Essence"

I'm going to Glassy Essence, Cedar Lake Dance Company's new show & I'm sure its gona be really awesome.
A synopsis:
Part choreographed dance performance and part interactive installation, Glassy Essence, bridges the gap between dancer and audience by merging the two in the most literal sense.
I went to Decadance there last summer, which was directed by guest choreographer Ohad Naharin. The show was one of the best I've ever seen. The space was fabulous. Its a small theater, and very intimate. Giant stage, great lighting and set design. The dancers were top-notch: highly dramatic, graceful, technically superior. Naharin's company, Batsheva Dance Company, from Israel, was founded originally by Martha Graham, one of the best modern dance choreographers. So the show was phenomenal. There was only 1 or 2 dancers there from Batsheva, and it was pretty seamless, so I'd say Cedar Lake's dancers are on the same level.

Can't wait for their new show.

Hiking In or Near NY??

I wanna start a hiking group, or join one, so I dont feel so damn claustraphobic here in the city. Anybody down to join or know of a good group already?

Dining Out: NYC & Beyond

Hey Frank Campo! So lets start our review of the restaurants...Can you add the first review, or should I?

I'm Addicted to Clare & The Reasons!

I saw them at the Mercury Lounge (NYC) and they were so awesome! I love this girl's voice and the musicians were so cool in that they were so creative with their instruments....A SAW, zylophone, and violins were just a few of the things they used to create the most amazing sounds! And I loved the firefly part!!

Review: Homemade Cleansers

I read an article (one of many) on NRDC's "This Green Life" where the author claims you can clean with white vinegar & baking soda. For some reason, I've been to lazy thus far to try it, but now am going to make it a point to buy some white vinegar & an extra box of baking soda. I'll let you know my results shortly.

Has anyone tried this already or does anybody have any additional tips?

HOMEMADE CLEANSERS

Making homemade cleansers is more like cooking soup than baking cake. You don't need an exact recipe, just an understanding of the ingredients.

White vinegar is an acid with mild germicidal properties. It can be used to get rid of mold and mildew, cut grease and clean glass. (Put 1/4 cup in a spray bottle and fill with water.) Don't worry about the smell -- it dissipates quickly.

Lemon works much like vinegar, but takes more effort to use (you need to squeeze it).

Baking soda is a mild abrasive. It doesn't scratch surfaces (which creates more places for dirt to get stuck in) the way rougher scouring powders do. Baking soda also deodorizes. When I scrub with baking soda, I often use vinegar in place of the water, as the combination cleans more effectively.

Olive oil can add shine to wood furniture. Use a half teaspoon in a quarter cup of vinegar or lemon juice. Skip the mixture if you only want to dust. That just requires a damp cloth.

Salt cleans copper pots and pans. Use with an equal amount of vinegar, then rinse. It's also great for silver. Put a teaspoon in a pot with around 3 inches of water and a sheet of aluminum foil. Boil silverware in it for a couple of minutes. Then wipe off the tarnish with a clean cloth.

Hot soapy water kills food-borne germs! Use it to wash your hands, cutting boards, knives and any surfaces that have come in contact with raw meat or eggs. Wash for at least 20 seconds.

You can also use washing soda in place of baking soda for tough jobs (wear gloves), pure castille soap, non-chlorine scouring powder, and a variety of ready-made non-toxic cleansers made by ecologically minded companies.

Is Romance Dead?

My question is, Is romance dead or maybe did it just never exist at all?
I recently went on a so-called "date" and we go to the park. It was a beautiful day, we have a picnic, walk around, talk. We have some really great conversation, and just when I'm starting to think this might turn into something, he asks "So, you wanna go to my place and make out?" *Now imagine the sound of soul crackling*
Wow. Is this all a guy can offer these days? Is chivalry totally dead? Will any guy in NYC actually bother to court me, or is it just"Hey you wanna go back to my place & screw?"? And if you decline, then they just go to the next girl to see if she will accept the offer. What ever happened to romance, spending quality time together....how bout really getting to know a person?

Anybody have any feedback on this?
